It is not easy to try to write my blog after 3 months without inspiration. I ran too much in March and decided to scale down my running. I had a wake-up call in April that showed me how I got my priorities confused. (Let’s not go into the details) In short, I lost balance, and other things became more important than my relationships – primarily my relationship with God, but also with important people in my life.

By God’s grace, I was able to make some necessary changes, and these changes are still going on. I started running shorter distances, but faster. I incorporated squash again to have some shared activity with my daughter. I am playing table tennis with my son. I started learning about upper-body strength training and am doing push-ups, sit-ups, dumbbell rows, planks, and many other exercises a few times a week. I started receiving counselling (no shame in that and I would recommend it to anyone, but find the right counsellor) and reading many books. I contacted some old friends. I think if you stop growing you start going bad.

Today my daughter and I drove to Ludhiana to run in the 10k race there. It was well organised with plenty of hydration and a flat route through a scenic area. It is monsoon, so the humidity was terrible. I started a bit too fast and lost some steam at the end, but still managed to come in under 40 minutes. And then we took our time, chatting to other runners and posing for photos. In one of these conversations, someone mentioned that they have read many of my blog posts. Maybe that is why I am writing again today.

Work in my office is picking up. (Check out www.covalience.com) We are looking for developers, so if you are one or know someone looking for a change, let me know. We have been asking God’s favour on our sales efforts, and He is obviously listening.

Go watch The Shack on Amazon Prime video or wherever you can find it. It may contain some of the answers that you have been looking for.

Keep running

Stephan

P.S. I commit to posting some more helpful articles on my blog approximately once a month. I just wanted to get this update out of the way first.

Oh, and we got some kittens.
