This morning while running up and down the lake in the dark I could not stop thinking about the scripture I am going to speak about in church on Sunday.
Matthew 5
13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
I carried a little flickering light with me again and I considered if this is the type of light we should be. But it is clearly not since this light does not give any light to me. I could still not see my path ahead. This type of light just makes others see you. The light we should become is one that gives light to your path, but also to others. This made me think of another scripture:
2 Corinthians 3:
18 And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
It is the image of Jesus which shines in and through us when we are His disciples. This is how we can be the Light of the World. If you, my friend, have accepted Jesus as your Guru and Savior then let Him shine through your friendly face and good deeds and kind words and pure thoughts so that others will give glory to our Father in heaven.
Sorry, I try not to preach so much in my blog!
Keep running
