Morning verses (Haiku during a summer morning run)

The dust clouds swirling

as the lone plow cuts the earth

This farmer still hopes.

The yellow sun lifts

above the silent treetops:

breadbasket Punjab

All the leaves sparkle

and the light-drenched trees stand tall

to welcome the day.
