It isn’t always easy to get out of bed and run early morning in the winter. So when I get some inspiration from somewhere it is great. Dieter Zimmerman has started the first phase of some awesome adventures in running. Check out their facebook page:

He is raising funds for AIDS victims and AIDS orphans and also bringing hope wherever he goes. All that while doing what he loves most: run. On Wednesday 23 November he started from Kemptonpark on his way to Nelspruit doing around 40k per day. The next phase will be from the Two Oceans to the Comrades and then phase 3 will be from Cape Town to Cairo!
Learning about this and talking to Dieter here in India just about 2 weeks ago inspired me to pick up my own running schedule in earnest. I am looking forward to the Panchkula half marathon on 8 January 2012. I also want to see what my daughter Anandi will be able to do. She is 9 and already a formidable runner. Nadia also likes running. Irene too, but she has to do some cycling till her Plantar Fascia has healed – could take some time.
This morning I ran a slow 18. From home to the botanical garden, through it and back. On the way I went through Leisure Valley, Shanti Kunj and the Rose garden. Lovely.
Great idea Stephan.
I ran 17 through this week.
Winter makes my chest constrict in the morning, so have to go slow.
All the best for the Panchkula half marathon!!
