I am putting this (slightly embarrassing) picture of myself up so that you can come and register for the Glow Run that is happening on the 14th of October in Chandigarh. Use daudtapb200 as a discount code to get Rs. 200 off.
I am gearing up for some big running towards the end of this year. My planning spreadsheet has some big numbers on them and I start feeling the strain on my muscles and tendons. The weekly totals move beyond 80k and the long runs get longer. I am planning a 70k self-supported trail-run this coming Saturday. In the forest that surrounds the controversial SYL canal.
This morning I did the Punjab half marathon in a decent 1:28 and earned another old man’s first position and trophy. My daughter came second in the 10k.
It was not too hot, but very humid. Tonight, Amit and I are planning to go run on the Glow Run route to see if it is going to work and where there may be problems with lighting or anything else.
I am helping to organize the HDFC Run the night GLOW RUN half marathon and 5k. I had my first ever press conference on Friday.
With all this activity, it is easy to lose the sense of it all. I make time every day to read the Bible and pray and He, my Friend Jesus, helps me to get perspective. The perspective I need is that I do not live for myself, but for Him and for those that He points me to. I do not succeed through my own effort but through his strength. I can rest in His acceptance of me. His love and his grace and his joy remain with me.
“All praise to the God and Father of our Master, Jesus the Messiah! Father of all mercy! God of all healing counsel! He comes alongside us when we go through hard times, and before you know it, he brings us alongside someone else who is going through hard times so that we can be there for that person just as God was there for us. We have plenty of hard times that come from following the Messiah, but no more so than the good times of his healing comfort—we get a full measure of that, too.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-5 (MSG)
Keep running
Stephan
