Chandigarh is a garden paradise. On Saturday I did 42k in preparation for the Comrades on the 10th of June. At the start, I just had a rough idea of what I want to do, and I knew it involved running through gardens. Afterward, my son and I counted 32 gardens and parks. (My Garmin battery gave out after 31k, so I have two separate tracks below.)
The list of recognizable gardens includes:
- Ekta park
- Garden of Springs
- Garden of Palms
- Dahlia Garden
- Fragrance Garden
- Hibiscus Garden
- Dream Park
- Children’s Traffic Park
- Bamboo Valley
- Shanti Kunj
- Rose Garden
- Eiffel Tower Park
- Leisure Valley
- Bougainvillea Park
Then I went around the Sukha Lake and ran through the Sukhna Wild Life Sanctuary.
- Butterfly park (What a gem)
- Ahinsa Park
- Pink Cassia Garden
- Senzu Park
- Japanese Garden
- Green Belt Park (Sect. 49)
- Valley of Animal Park (Dinasour park)
- The back side of Silvi Park (That is what Google maps say)
- Silvi Park
- City Park
There was also about 8 other unnamed parks…
Some pics I took on the way:
For my own record: ran the Vaisakhi half marathon in Anandpur Sahib together with my daughter on Sunday. She was third overall and 1st in her age category. (1:58)Â I was 8th overall and 1st in my age category. (1:27:52)
Keep running
Stephan
How lovely!
