Royal Colony Park
Description: There is nothing “royal” about this park. But it has some interesting features. It has so many trees that it seems almost like a forest area. The ever-present canal is on the one side. They have benches and arches, a basketball court and an “open library.” But the best for me is running on the raised path next to the canal. This is quite close to our sector, so I pass through the garden very often. If you keep following this path, you get to an opening in the fence where you can step out. Then you cross the bridge and run on the other side of the canal. That path then ends right in front of the Valley Garden!
Location: Google maps link
Surface: Uneven at times, but runnable. Some places you have to run on the cement path. All around is almost 1km. If you want to run next to the canal, you have to zigzag between the trees. Fun. In summer you pick up spiderwebs. It is one of the few gardens in Mohali where you can get some small uphills. And they are steep.
Lighting: No for the most part.
Washrooms: No
Parking: In the market on the other side of the road.
Beauty: Above average
Atmosphere: Quiet. Very few people come here. It makes for a great picnic-spot and some meditative running.
Rating: 7 out of 10
Keep running

P.S. If there is anything else you want to know about the gardens, comment on the blog. I would love to hear your own experiences.
